What changes between products?

List every NPS, pressure class, end connection and body material that must sit on the same purchase. A T-pattern globe used for characterized throttling is not interchangeable with a Y-pattern or stop-check construction even when both are labeled globe valve. Format range decides how many face-to-face lengths and actuator mounts belong in the first order.

What must be cleaned or replaced?

Ask which discs, seats, packing rings and bonnet gaskets are treated as changeover or spare parts. Hydrotest water and particle residue left in the cavity affect first-cycle seating after a trim swap. Cleaning and preservation scope is a quoted extra unless the offer names it.

How is the first good output verified?

Define who witnesses shell and seat tests, and whether first in-line restart after installation is a timed SAT step or an informal operations check. Flow rate used for any demonstration must be restated with fluid and temperature, not copied from a brochure Cv table.

Product changeover questions

Use these questions when one RFQ covers more than one globe valve size or trim. Mixing isolation-only and characterized-throttling duties in a single line item hides the disc and cage choices that later appear as extras.

What changes between products?

Record each NPS, class, connection and whether the stem is rising with a handwheel or an actuator. Adjacent ball or gate valves on the same isometric are not members of this purchase unless you open a separate RFQ.

What must be cleaned or replaced?

Name packing, lantern rings, seat rings and any pressure-seal bonnet hardware that must be available at first outage. If the factory quotes a bolted bonnet and you expected a pressure-seal stack, treat that as a different product, not a free option.

How is the first good output verified?

State the leakage class, test medium and whether a witnessed FAT is required. Throughput or cycle-time language from rotating machinery does not apply; the acceptance record is pressure, leakage and stroke, not units per hour.

Delivery

Lifting, welding or bolting, actuator wiring, insulation and overhead access for a pressure-seal bonnet. Installation and SAT remain separately quoted unless the offer writes them in.

Ask the factory to state the pressure-temperature basis for the offered carbon steel or alloy body, not a generic class stamp. Public maker pages may list ASME Classes 600–4500 for a pressure-seal family; that range is a reference, not this site’s stock.

Delivery

Test certificates and material test reports travel with the serial number. Shipping a class-rated body without the matching P-T sheet leaves the buyer comparing empty stamps.

Site

Operating temperature at the installed location can sit below or above the shop hydrotest temperature. Record both so the supplier can confirm the curve that applies after installation.
